The municipality was established on 18 May 2014 merging with the existing Nilkantha (Dhading Besi), Sunaula Bazar, Murali Bhanjyang, Sangkosh Village development committees.[2][3] At the time of the 1991 Nepal census it had a population of 1975 and had 9667 houses in it.[4] MediaTo Promote local culture Nilkantha has three Community radio Station. They are Radio Dhading - 106 MHz, Radio Bihani - 97.6 MHz and another is Radio Loktantra - 89.4 MHZ.
