Ten or eleven species of reptiles occur in Great Britain: three[1] snakes and three lizards, which were established at the time of the last ice age. Additionally, Britain has a number of introduced species which have become naturalized in their new environments such as tortoises.

Sea turtles have been recorded as coastal vagrants and the red-eared terrapin occurs as an introduced species.

Snakes

  • Common wall lizard Podarcis muralis [10]
  • Western green lizard Lacerta bilineata[11]
  • Aesculapian snake Zamenis longissimus.[12][13]
