}} Nomophila noctuella, the rush veneer, is a species of moth of the family Crambidae. DistributionThis species has a nearly cosmopolitan distribution (Europe, North Africa, Central Asia, Pakistan, North America).[2][3] In Europe, it is a migratory species, travelling from southern Europe and North Africa to Northern Europe.[4] DescriptionThe wingspan is 26–32 mm. Forewings are very elongated and narrow.[4] The basic color of the forewings is usually brown, with darker wide eight-shaped and reniform markings in the discal and postdiscal areas.[5] Some dark brown spots are present close to the outer edge and to the apex. The hindwings are whitish with brown veins.[2] The mature larvae are gray green and spotted. They can reach a length of {{convert|15|-|20|mm}}.[6] BiologyThese moths fly from May to September depending on the location.[4] They are attracted to light,[7] and in Europe they are migratory.[5] There are two to four generations per year.[6] The larvae feed on Trifolium,[4] clover, Medicago, Polygonum aviculare,[7] wheat,[5] Vaccinium and various other grasses.[6] They pupate in a cocoon amongst the leaves of the host plants or on a stone. The pupa hibernates.[7] References1. ^Lepiforum 2. ^1 {{Cite web|url=http://toutunmondedansmonjardin.perso.neuf.fr/EN/pages_EN/nomophila_noctuella_EN.htm|title=http://toutunmondedansmonjardin.perso.neuf.fr/EN/pages_EN/nomophila_noctuella_EN.htm|website=toutunmondedansmonjardin.perso.neuf.fr|access-date=2017-07-26}} 3. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.faunaeur.org/full_results.php?id=442656|title=Fauna Europaea|website=www.faunaeur.org|language=en|access-date=2017-07-26}} 4. ^1 2 {{Cite web|url=https://ukmoths.org.uk/show.php?id=1793|title=Rush Veneer Nomophila noctuella|website=UK Moths|language=en|access-date=2017-07-26}} 5. ^1 2 3 {{Cite web|url=http://gdoremi.altervista.org/crambidae/Nomophila_noctuella_en.html|title=Nomophila noctuella|website=gdoremi.altervista.org|language=en|access-date=2017-07-26}} 6. ^1 2 {{Cite web|url=https://www.researchgate.net/publication/269707855_A_NEW_PEST_RUSH_VENEER_NOMOPHILA_NOCTUELLA_DENIS_SCHIFFERMULLER_1775_LEPIDOPTERA_CRAMBIDAE_ON_ALFALFA_MEDICAGO_SATIVA_L_IN_IGDIR_PROVINCE_TURKEY|title=A NEW PEST: RUSH VENEER, NOMOPHILA NOCTUELLA DENIS & SCHIFFERMULLER, 1775 (LEPIDOPTERA: CRAMBIDAE) ON ALFALFA (MEDICAGO SATIVA L.)
