RecognitionSchimming-Chase was awarded the Most Distinguished Order of Namibia: First Class on Heroes' Day 2014.[2] PersonalSchimming-Chase was the daughter of Otto Schimming, the first Black teacher in Namibia and early independence activist.[3] DeathThe former CoD parliamentarian Nora Schimming-Chase died on 13 March 2018. It was announced by President Hage Geingob announced on his Twitter account. Schimming-Chase was a struggle veteran and served as Namibia's ambassador to Germany from 1992 to 1996 and Austria from 1994 to 1996. She was also the Swanu representative in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania from 1974 to 1978 [4].
