It was played between the champions of the Tunisian, the Moroccan football league and the 3 Algerian regional leagues. Morocco did not enter their champions until the 1928/29 season. In 1956 the cup was cancelled because Morocco and Tunisia both became independent of France in that year and left the cup. It was replaced by the Algerian CFA Championship.
