It is endemic to the Solomon Islands, specifically Santa Isabel Island.[3][4] It is considered by some ornithologists to be a subspecies of Coracina caledonica.[5][6] Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests.
