词条 | Oat Lane |
释义 |
First mentioned by Leake in 1666,[3][4] it runs from Noble Street[5] to Staining Lane[6] between Gresham Street and London Wall. The Great Hall of the Worshipful Company of Pewterers stands midway down Oat Lane. The church of St Mary Staining once stood here[7] and a small garden still marks the location of the lost church.[8] The nearest London Underground station is St. Paul's and the closest mainline railway station is Moorgate. {{coord|51.516668|-0.09539|type:landmark|display=title}}References1. ^In past times called Sheers Alley > "A Dictionary of London" Harben,H: London, Herbert Jenkins, 1918 {{London history}}{{City of London wards}}{{London-road-stub}}2. ^Map of area 3. ^Details of Survey 4. ^British History on-line 5. ^[https://books.google.com/books?id=wpwHAAAAQAAJ&pg=PA10&lpg=PA10&dq=Noble+Street+City+of+LOndon&source=web&ots=mS2Pu1nAFB&sig=DI24rG4VG2BRBecXH5TKm0MZ_Ns&hl=en&sa=X&oi=book_result&resnum=10&ct=result Further details] 6. ^"Dodsley’s London and its environs described" London, R & J Dodsley 1761 7. ^Closed churches 8. ^City Gardens: Small Public Gardens 2 : Streets in the City of London|History of the City of London |
