First mentioned by Leake in 1666,^[3]^[4] it runs from Noble Street^[5] to Staining Lane^[6] between Gresham Street and London Wall.

The Great Hall of the Worshipful Company of Pewterers stands midway down Oat Lane. The church of St Mary Staining once stood here^[7] and a small garden still marks the location of the lost church.^[8]

The nearest London Underground station is St. Paul's and the closest mainline railway station is Moorgate.
