Geography and History

Omandur is a village in Marakkanam onetriyam in Tindivanam taluk in Villupuram district in Tamil Nadu state in India. Omandur is located in Tindivanam to Pondicherry NH 66, 8 km from main town Tindivanam and 32 km from Pondicherry, 56.7 km far from its District Main City Villupuram . It is 102 km far from its State Main City Chennai. The first and foremost former chief minister O.P. Ramasamy Reddiyar was born and brought up in this village. Omandur village contain more than 501 (As per Census 2001) Houses and Nice Village with green place and also having many temple like Eshwaran (Bheemeswarar) Temple (Lord Shiva), Perumal temple (Lord Venkateshwara), Sundara Vinayagar Temple, Devi Karumariamman Temple, Kengai amman temple, Oochiyamman temple, Angalamman temple, Solaivazhiamman temple. And also have CBSE, Elementary and higher secondary school.
