The river flows {{convert|388|km|sp=us}} before finally reaching the city of Wenzhou and emptying into the East China Sea, into which it discharges {{convert|20.2|e9m3|sp=us}} of water annually. Shen Jiang ({{zh|s=慎江|l=Cautious River|labels=no}}), Jiang Yongjia ({{zh|s=永嘉江|labels=no}}), and Wenjiang ({{zh|s=温江|l=Warm River|labels=no}}) are all former names for this river. FaunaThe Ou River has a rich fish fauna. A 2010 survey recorded 60 different fish species, with goldfish, bagrid catfish, and Pseudobagrus tenuis being the most prolific in range.{{efn|These three species were recorded at all monitoring stations.}} Compared to a 1972 survey, 20 new species were recorded, including two alien species (Mozambique tilapia and largemouth bass); however, 34 species recorded in 1972 were absent in 2010, and overall fish density was lower.[1] Goby Pseudorhinogobius aporus is endemic to the Ou River system: it is only known from a brook in the upper Ou River system.[2] Notes{{notelist}}References1. ^{{Cite journal | volume = 21 | pages = 934–939 | last = Chen | first = Feng |author2=Xian-fu Zhao |author3=Jin-yong Zhao |author4=Min Li | title = Investigation of fish resources in the Oujiang River and its protection strategy | journal = Resources and Environment in the Yangtze Basin | year = 2012 | language = Chinese, English}} {{China Rivers}}{{Zhejiang topics}}{{China-river-stub}}2. ^{{cite journal |last1=Zhong |first1=Jun-Sheng |last2=Wu |first2=Han-Lin |year=1998 |script-title=zh:中国东部 虎鱼科(Gobiidae)一新属新种, 无孔拟吻 虎鱼(Pseudorhinogobius aporus) |trans-title=Pseudorhinogobius aporus, a new genus and species of gobiid fish from eastern China |journal=Journal of Fisheries of China |volume=22 |issue=2 |pages=148–153 |url=http://www.scxuebao.cn/scxuebao/ch/reader/create_pdf.aspx?file_no=19980209&flag=&journal_id=scxuebao&year_id=1998|format=PDF|language=Chinese, English}} 1 : Rivers of Zhejiang |
