Pacific Sun Railroad is a short line railroad in San Diego County, California that works on the Escondido Sub, the Miramar Branch, and in Stuart Mesa Yard. It is based from Stuart Mesa Yard in Oceanside, California. It is owned by Watco Companies. HistoryPacific Sun started on October 2008 after being contracted by BNSF Railway. BNSF previously provided service the Pacific Sun Railway currently operates. OperationsPacific Sun Railroad runs trains weekdays late at night along the Escondido line, the Miramar spur, and the Surf Line between Stuart Mesa and San Onofre. EquipmentPacific Sun owns four locomotives. Two GP35 units originally owned by Seaboard Air Line, and two GP40 units originally owned by Western Pacific Railroad.
