Much of Long Valley is part of Schooley's Mountain, a tall ridge that contrasts greatly with the rest of the region. ClimateThe climate in this area is characterized by hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters. According to the Köppen Climate Classification system, Long Valley has a humid subtropical climate, abbreviated "Cfa" on climate maps.[13] Demographics{{US Census population| 1990=1744 | 2000=1818 | 2010=1879 | footnote= Population sources: 1990-2010[9] 2000[17] 2010[2] }} Census 2010{{USCensusDemographics|year=2010|type=CDP|place=Long Valley CDP|1879|1395|74.2|364|19.4|252|13.4|1849|1780|10|0|34|0|25|30|100|709|675|34|4.62|0.06|4.57|411.5|155.3|675|79.1|37.0|65.8|9.5|20.9|15.6|6.1|2.77|3.10|89.2|88.1|1.2|10.1|0.6|0.0|0.6|25.8|5.9|21.0|34.0|13.4|43.8|97.2|96.5}}Census 2000As of the 2000 United States Census[5] there were 1,818 people, 654 households, and 502 families residing in the CDP.
