词条 Park Square, London
释义

  1. References

Park Square is north of Park Crescent and the Marylebone Road in London. It consists of large elegant stuccoed terraced houses by the architect John Nash, and was built in 1823–24.

To the south of the square is Regent's Park tube station. Park Square Gardens are in the centre of the square.[1] Immediately to the north is Regent's Park. Most of the square is in Westminster, but the eastern side is in Camden.[2]

The square is one of the largest private squares in London.[1] It is dominated by plane trees, originally planted in 1817 to commemorate the victory at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. Also of interest is a tulip tree, Liriodendron tulipifera. An unusual and original feature in the garden is the "Nursemaids' Tunnel", an early example of an underpass, linking the square with Park Crescent.
