}}Patrick Anthony Sweeney was a member of the Ohio Senate from 1997 to 1998, and a member of the Ohio House of Representatives from 1967 to 1997. He was appointed in January 1997 to fill the vacancy caused by Dennis Kucinich, who was elected to Congress. However, in 1998 he opted to not run for election to his Senate seat, and he was succeeded by Dan Brady in 1999.[1]

Sweeney holds a master's degree from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and works at Cleveland State University's Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs as Assistant to the Vice President of Governmental Relations. Sweeney is also president of public policy advocacy firm PASCo Consultants.[2]

Sweeney's wife, Emily Margaret Sweeney ({{nee}} Mirsky), was formerly (1993-2003) the United States Attorney for The Northern District of Ohio.[3] They have one daughter, Margaret Anne.[2]
