He has been a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for North Antrim since 2010. He was elected at the 2005 local elections to Ballymena Borough Council. In 2010, he replaced Ian Paisley, Jr as a Member of the Northern Ireland Assembly for North Antrim.[1] However the politician is most famous for his father's role in illegal trade in Ballymena. In 2013 his father Robert Frew confessed to selling illegal, VAT-evading cigarettes, likely to have been brought to these shores by dissident republicans.[2] A native of Broughshane, he is an electrician by trade and served in the Royal Irish Regiment.[3] References1. ^"Paul Frew selected as new MLA for North Antrim", Democratic Unionist Party {{s-start}}{{s-par|ni/ass}}{{s-bef|before=Ian Paisley, Jr}}{{s-ttl|title=MLA for North Antrim|years=2010–present}}{{s-inc}}{{s-end}}{{Democratic Unionist Party}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Frew, Paul}}2. ^" ", Belfast Telegraph 3. ^"Paul Frew" {{webarchive|url=https://archive.is/20130203024705/http://www.stratagem-ni.com/politician_specific.aspx?dataid=480134 |date=3 February 2013 }} Stratagem-NI.com 9 : 1974 births|Living people|People from Broughshane|Democratic Unionist Party MLAs|Councillors in Northern Ireland|Northern Ireland MLAs 2007–11|Northern Ireland MLAs 2011–16|Northern Ireland MLAs 2016–17|Northern Ireland MLAs 2017– |
