Early lifeO'Halloran grew up on a dairy farm at Preolenna on the north west coast of Tasmania and later moved to North Motton. Early in life he was a Labor supporter, but his activism in the Franklin Dam dispute lead him to the Greens. Prior to politics, he was a schoolteacher and administrator and later a scientist at the University of Tasmania, where he managed a university agricultural industry project aimed at linking educator providers with industry.[1] Political careerO'Halloran was a Greens candidate for several state elections before being elected to the Division of Braddon in the Tasmanian House of Assembly in 2010, receiving 7.9% of first preference votes.[2] O'Halloran is the first Greens member for Braddon since Di Hollister lost her seat in 1998. He was not re-elected at the 2014 House of Assembly elections.[3] References1. ^{{Cite news|url=http://www.themercury.com.au/article/2010/03/31/137391_tasmania-news.html|title=Greens win Braddon seat|publisher=The Mercury|date=31 March 2010|accessdate=3 April 2010}} {{DEFAULTSORT:OHalloran, Paul}}{{AustralianGreens-politician-stub}}2. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.electoral.tas.gov.au/pages/HouseOfAssembly/HoA2010/Results/Braddon/BraddonFirst.html|title=House of Assembly 2010 results - Braddon - first preferences|accessdate=2 April 2010}} 3. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.tec.tas.gov.au/StateElection/Results.html |title=2014 House of Assembly Summary of Elected Members |work=Tasmanian Electoral Commission |accessdate=8 April 2014 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20140406213821/http://www.tec.tas.gov.au/StateElection/Results.html |archivedate=6 April 2014 |df=dmy-all }} 7 : 1950 births|Living people|Australian Greens members of the Parliament of Tasmania|Members of the Tasmanian House of Assembly|Australian environmentalists|Australian schoolteachers|21st-century Australian politicians |
