It is located {{Convert|6|km|mi|0|abbr=on}} southwest of Hudson's Hope, {{Convert|23|km|mi|0|abbr=on}} downstream from the W.A.C. Bennett Dam. The {{Convert|50|m|ft|0|abbr=on}} high concrete dam, completed in 1980, impounds a {{Convert|21|km|mi|0|abbr=on}} long reservoir, called Dinosaur Lake. Together, the four generating units of the complex have a peak capacity of {{nowrap|700 MW}}, and typically produce over {{nowrap|3,500 GWh}} of electricity per year. There are no guided tours at the Peace Canyon Dam and entry to the building is off-limits.
