It was the first planetarium in Mexico open to the public and is one of the oldest in Latin America.[1] It was opened in 1967 and operated for over 39 years with a planetarium projector model Mark 4. It was reopened to the public on 15 January 2007 after renovation and modernization costing about 43 million pesos.[3] Its innovations include a stellar dome and new digital projection systems Digistar 3 provided by E&S through Ecosistemas de México, audio, acoustics and lighting.[3] References1. ^1 {{cite web|author=National Polytechnic Institute|title=Un Poco de Historia: El Planetario Luis Enrique Erro|url=http://www.planetario.ipn.mx/Quienes/historia.html|publisher=|language=Spanish|accessdate=February 6, 2010}} 2. ^{{cite web|author=Journalmex|title=El planetario "Luis Enrique Erro"|url=http://journalmex.wordpress.com/2009/01/01/el-planetario-luis-enrique-erro/|publisher=|language=Spanish|format=|accessdate=February 6, 2010}} 3. ^1 {{cite web|author=Mariana Norandi|title=Reabren el planetario Luis Enrique Erro|url=http://www.jornada.unam.mx/2007/01/15/index.php?section=sociedad&article=049n1soc|publisher=La Jornada|language=Spanish|format=|accessdate=February 6, 2010}} External links
