Awards and honors
Past Marching ShowsThe Plano East Band performs in many competitions including the regional UIL 25 contest, the BOA Regional in Southlake at Dragon Stadium and the BOA Super Regional at San Antonio, held in the Alamodome.
ArrangementsThe Marching Panthers plays an arrangement of the Star Spangled Banner that was written for them by Jack Stamp shortly after the September 11th Attacks on New York City. The Plano East Wind Ensemble was set to perform at the Midwest Clinic in Chicago that December. In accordance with strict rules governing the clinic, the program had been set months prior. Following the attacks, Mr. Stamp approached Mr. Villarreal, requesting for the Plano East Wind Ensemble to play his arrangement, subtitled "A Love Song to Our Country". The band petitioned the board at the Midwest Clinic and gained approval to change their program. The Plano East Senior High School Wind Ensemble played the arrangement and was met with thunderous applause, due to the nature of the piece. "A Love Song to Our Country" starts quietly, and with reverence, and eventually resolves to a hopeful, prideful end. It is meant to signify the despair and hopelessness shortly after the attacks, and how we, as a nation came back stronger, and closer than ever before. The Marching Panthers play this arrangement at every home football game at Tom Kimbrough Stadium, in respect to the resilience of this nation. External links
