The area traditionally belonged to the Styria region and is now included in the Mura Statistical Region.[2] On a hill south of the settlement is a three-storey mansion known as Vard Castle ({{lang-sl|Vardov grad}}). It was built between 1859 and 1862 on the site of a castle that was first mentioned in written documents dating to 1242.[3] North of the mansion is the local church, dedicated to Saint Anne. It belongs to the Parish of Ljutomer.
