The area is part of the traditional region of Styria. The municipality is now included in the Savinja Statistical Region.[2] NameThe name of the settlement was changed from Podvin to Podvin Vranski in 1952. It was changed again from Podvin Vranski to Podvin pri Polzeli in 1963.[3] ChurchThe local church, built on Vimperk Hill south of the settlement, is dedicated to Saint Nicholas and belongs to the Parish of Polzela.
