A shrub up to 4 metres tall, it features rusty stems and hairs on the under side of the leaf. Though the upper surface of the leaf is hairless but not glossy. Leaves 6 to 10 cm long, lanceolate in shape. Cream or white flowers form in panicles at the end of branches, from September to October.[2] The fruiting capsule and hypanthium have long silky hairs.
