The Portland State University School of Business (SB) is located in Portland, Oregon. It offers bachelor’s, master’s, and post-baccalaureate degrees as well as certificate and minor programs in business. The school has corporate outreach activities ranging from classroom appearances by local executives to internship programs, student consulting projects, and regular conferences and community events.

History

Portland State University has offered courses in business since its founding as a college in 1946. In the early years, all business classes were offered under the Social Science Division with Dr. George Hoffman as the department head. In 1961 all business courses were separated from the Social Science Department and placed in the newly created Division of Business Administration, headed by Dr. Donald E. Parker.

In 2009 the SB began offering a joint MBA in Healthcare Management with Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) as a part-time degree program for mid-career professionals.

Facilities

The School of Business building is centrally located on the Portland State University campus at 631 SW Harrison Street in downtown Portland.

In 2016, the School of Business broke ground on a new {{convert|135000|sqft|m2|adj=on}} building, The Karl Miller Center. The $60 million project, known as the Grow With Us Building Campaign, was designed by Behnisch Architekten with principal-in-charge Matthew Noblett and project leader Michael Kocher in collaboration with SRG Partnership, Inc. The design strives to surpass The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum certification requirements set forth by the U.S. Green Building Council.
