NameThe name Praproče is derived from the Slovene word praprot 'fern' and, like similar names (e.g., Parpreče, Praprotno Brdo, Paprače = {{lang-de|Farrendorf}}), originally referred to the local vegetation.[3] In the past it was known as Prapretsche in German.[4] ChurchThe local church is dedicated to Saint George and was first mentioned in documents dating to 1526.
