Elisabeth was the sixth child[1][2] of Albert, 8th Prince of Thurn and Taxis and his wife Archduchess Margarethe Klementine of Austria.[1][2] Marriage and issueElisabeth married Prince Friedrich Christian of Saxony, second eldest child and son[1][2] of Frederick Augustus III of Saxony and his wife Archduchess Luise of Austria, Princess of Tuscany,[1][2] on 16 June 1923 in Regensburg, Bavaria.[1][2] Elisabeth and Friedrich had five children:[1][2]
