}} Pristipomoides filamentosus, commonly known as the crimson jobfish, crimson snapper, opakapaka,[1] or Hawaiian pink snapper, is a species of snapper native to the Indian Ocean and into the Pacific Ocean as far east as Hawaii and Tahiti. They inhabit waters over rocky substrates at depths from {{convert|40|to|400|m|ft|abbr=on}} seemingly preferring to remain between {{convert|180|and|270|m|ft|abbr=on}}. This species can reach a length of {{convert|100|cm|in|abbr=on}}, though most are around {{convert|50|cm|in|abbr=on}}. The greatest known weight for this species is {{convert|8.2|kg|lb|abbr=on}}. This species is very important to local commercial fisheries and is sought out as a game fish.[2] One of the Deep Seven species of Hawai'i. Known parasites of the crimson jobfish include the cymothoid isopod Anilocra gigantea,[3], the pennellid copepod Lernaeolophus sultanus and the nematodes Cucullanus bourdini [4] and Raphidascaris (Ichthyascaris) etelidis. [5] According to the FAO, the fish have been overexploited, but are in a recovering state. The commercial capture of crimson jobfish sharply dropped to 4,400 tonnes in 2009 from 25,300 tonnes the previous year.[6] References1. ^http://articles.chicagotribune.com/1986-02-20/entertainment/8601130659_1_albacore-tuna-chicago-fish-house-tombo {{Taxonbar|from=Q3235291}}{{Perciformes-stub}}2. ^{{FishBase |genus= Pristipomoides|species= filamentosus| month = December | year = 2013}} 3. ^{{Cite journal | last1 = Justine | first1 = JL. | last2 = Beveridge | first2 = I. | last3 = Boxshall | first3 = GA. | last4 = Bray | first4 = RA. | last5 = Miller | first5 = TL. | last6 = Moravec | first6 = F. | last7 = Trilles | first7 = JP. | last8 = Whittington | first8 = ID. | title = An annotated list of fish parasites (Isopoda, Copepoda, Monogenea, Digenea, Cestoda, Nematoda) collected from Snappers and Bream (Lutjanidae, Nemipteridae, Caesionidae) in New Caledonia confirms high parasite biodiversity on coral reef fish | journal = Aquat Biosyst | volume = 8 | issue = 1 | pages = 22 | month = | year = 2012 | doi = 10.1186/2046-9063-8-22 | pmid = 22947621 | pmc = 3507714 }} 4. ^{{cite journal|last1=Moravec|first1=František|last2=Justine|first2=Jean-Lou|title=Cucullanid nematodes (Nematoda: Cucullanidae) from deep-sea marine fishes off New Caledonia, including Dichelyne etelidis n. sp.|journal=Systematic Parasitology|volume=78|issue=2|year=2011|pages=95–108|issn=0165-5752|doi=10.1007/s11230-010-9281-8}} 5. ^{{cite journal|last1=Moravec|first1=František|last2=Justine|first2=Jean-Lou|title=Raphidascaris (Ichthyascaris) etelidis n. sp.
