It is a mid 12th century Romanesque church with a triple closed choir built out of brick covered with tuffstone,[1] located on the Van Sminiawei 29.[2] The tower dates from the 13th century and is like the church build out of brick covered with tuffstone.[1] The church was once a Roman Catholic church dedicated to Saint Paul but became a Protestant church after the protestant reformation. Over time the tower and church where several times changed/converted.[1] It is listed as a Rijksmonument, number 35669.[3] References1. ^1 2 3 Alle middeleeuwse kerken: van Harlingen tot Wilhelmshaven, P Karstkarel, p. 31 2. ^{{cite web |url= http://www.historischekerken.nl/Friesland/Aldtsjerk.html|title= historischekerken.nl |accessdate=2010-03-28}} 3. ^{{cite web |url= http://www.kich.nl/kich2010/rapport.jsp?id_qualifier=ODB:Rijksmonumentnr&id=35669|title= kich.nl (Kennisinfrastructuur Cultuurhistorie)|accessdate=2010-11-26}} {{Medieval churches in Tytsjerksteradiel}} 5 : Tytsjerksteradiel|Churches in Friesland|Romanesque architecture in the Netherlands|Rijksmonuments in Friesland|Protestant churches in the Netherlands |
