It is a late 12th century Romanesque church with inner walls of brick and outer walls of tuffstone with a 13th-century tower built out of yellow and red brick.[1] The choir is likely the oldest part of the building.[1] The church was originally a Roman Catholic temple dedicated to Saint Martin, becoming a Protestant church after the Protestant Reformation. It is listed as a Rijksmonument, number 8473.[2] The building is located on the Tsjerkebuorren 1.[3] References1. ^1 2 Alle middeleeuwse kerken: van Harlingen tot Wilhelmshaven, P Karstkarel, p. 47 2. ^{{cite web |url= http://www.kich.nl/kich2010/rapport.jsp?id_qualifier=ODB:Rijksmonumentnr&id=8473|title= kich.nl (Kennisinfrastructuur Cultuurhistorie)|accessdate=2010-08-26}} 3. ^{{cite web |url= http://www.historischekerken.nl/Friesland/Boazum.html|title= historischekerken.nl |accessdate=2010-03-31}} 4 : Churches in Friesland|Rijksmonuments in Friesland|Romanesque architecture in the Netherlands|Protestant churches in the Netherlands |
