It is the seat of the gmina (administrative district) called Gmina Przybiernów.[2] It lies approximately {{convert|24|km|mi|0}} north of Goleniów and {{convert|41|km|mi|0|abbr=on}} north of the regional capital Szczecin. Before 1945 the area was part of Germany. Following World War II the native German populace was expelled and replaced by Poles. For the history of the region, see History of Pomerania.
