The area is part of the traditional region of Styria. It is now included with the rest of the municipality in the Drava Statistical Region.[2] It is best known for its Basilica Minor, and also for a late-14th-century statue of the Virgin of Mercy. It depicts Mary with a long coat protecting a crowd underneath it. The parish church is built on top of a hill and is a dominant landmark of the area.
