Underage careerReidy was an outstanding schools player with St.Patrick's College of Castleisland, and won the 2003 Dunloe Shield.[1][2] He won two Munster Minor Football Championship medals with Kerry (2003 and 2004), and was a member of the Kerry minor side beaten by Laois in the 2003 All-Ireland Minor Football Championship semi-final and of the team which lost to Tyrone in the 2004 final.[3] 2005 Kerry JuniorsReidy was a member of the Kerry squad for the All-Ireland Junior Football Championship in 2005, starting at corner-back. Kerry defeated Tipperary GAA[4] in the quarter-final of the Munster Junior Football Championship. They then overcame Limerick GAA in a replay to reach the final, with Reidy part of what was considered a very solid full-back line.[5] However, Cork GAA, who subsequently won the All-Ireland championship, beat them in the final.[6] Senior careerThe Scartaglin man made his National Football League debut in 2005, against Mayo. He first broke through not the Kerry championship team in 2007, with a debut against Waterford in the Munster Senior Football Championship on June 3. He played in the corner-back spot vacated by Tom O'Suullivan, who moved to full-back following the retirement of Mike McCarthy. Despite his inexperience and early difficulties,[7] Reidy settled well and is recognised as a talented young back who blossomed during the Championship.[8] He gave fine performances against Mark Vaughan of Dublin GAA and James Masters of Cork in the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship semi-final and final.[7] Reidy played at corner-back as Kerry won the final by 3–13 to 1–9 against Cork GAA.[9] The victory made him the first Scartaglin player to win a senior All-Ireland with Kerry.[10] Reidy also had a fine year with his club, which won the East Kerry Intermediate championship. As a result, the club qualified for the East Kerry Senior Football Championship proper, surprisingly reaching the semi-finals and almost beating the powerful Dr. Crokes in what was described as a "David and Goliath battle".[11] At divisional level however, Reidy's St. Kieran's sides were knocked out in the second round of the Kerry Senior Football Championship by eventual champions Feale Rangers.[12] In 2008, Reidy has so far retained his number four jersey and is one of the starting corner-backs for Kerry in the National Football League.[13] References1. ^The Kingdom – 2003/02/19: GAA: O'Shea rescues Islanders 2. ^The Kingdom – 2003/03/26: GAA: It's St Patrick's day in Dunloe Shield 3. ^Munster Minor Football Teams – Munster GAA Web Site {{webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20090324132704/http://munster.gaa.ie/teams/minorfootball.html |date=2009-03-24 }} 4. ^The Kingdom – 2005/06/02: GAA: Late Foley point saves Kerry’s blushes {{webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110629052809/http://archives.tcm.ie/thekingdom/2005/06/02/story17416.asp |date=2011-06-29 }} 5. ^The Kingdom – 2005/06/30: GAA: Juniors book Munster Final date with Cork {{webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110629052816/http://archives.tcm.ie/thekingdom/2005/06/30/story17718.asp |date=2011-06-29 }} 6. ^Munster Junior Football Teams – Munster GAA Web Site {{webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20080719200310/http://munster.gaa.ie/teams/juniorfootball.html |date=2008-07-19 }} 7. ^1 East Kerry Player Profiles {{webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20060902031327/http://www.eastkerrygaa.com/current-profile.htm |date=2006-09-02 }} 8. ^http://www.examiner.ie/irishexaminer/pages/story.aspx-qqqg=sport-qqqm=GAA-qqqa=sport-qqqid=55500-qqqx=1.asp {{webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110521143225/http://www.examiner.ie/irishexaminer/pages/story.aspx-qqqg%3Dsport-qqqm%3DGAA-qqqa%3Dsport-qqqid%3D55500-qqqx%3D1.asp |date=2011-05-21 }} 9. ^RTÉ Sport: Kerry v Cork matchtracker 10. ^Profile of Pádraig Reidy at eastkerrygaa.com {{webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20060902031327/http://www.eastkerrygaa.com/current-profile.htm |date=2006-09-02 }} 11. ^The Kingdom: David and Goliath battle for Scartaglin 12. ^The Kingdom – 2007/05/25: GAA: Kennelly goal sinks hapless Saints 13. ^RTÉ Sport: Mayo 0–16 Kerry 1–12 {{webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20080320044213/http://www.rte.ie/sport/gaa/2008/0316/mayo_kerry.html |date=2008-03-20 }} External links
