Sarg. |}} Quercus breviloba, commonly referred to as the bastard oak or shallow-lobed oak, is a species of oak tree[1] that grows in parts of the Southern United States and Northeastern Mexico. TaxonomySynonymous names for the tree species include Quercus durandii var. breviloba (Torr.) Palmer and Q. sinuata var. breviloba (Torr.) C. H. Mull.[1][2] DescriptionThe Quercus breviloba tree grows to a height of 12 m, with an 81 cm diameter at breast height and gray flaking bark.[1] Leaves range from 3–8 cm long by 2-4.5 cm wide, with "broadly rounded and bristless" tips.[1] Leaf shapes are "narrowly obovate to oblanceolate or narrowly elliptic".[1] Twigs are glabrous or may have "scattered hairs".[1] Leaf undersides have "numerous minute sessile stelate hairs with horizonatally spreading rays".[1] DistributionQuercus breviloba grows in the states of Oklahoma and Texas,[2][3] and the northern Mexico states of Coahuila, Nuevo León, and Tamaulipas.[3]References1. ^1 2 3 4 5 6 {{cite book|last=Duncan|first=Wilbur H.|author2=Marion B.
