Competitors were selected from the audience by drawing numbered tickets, prompting many amusing exchanges as they competed for small monetary prizes. Musical accompaniment was provided by organist Norman Metcalfe, who frequently provided musical hints to the answers. The centre-piece was a large board with illuminated numbers that indicated remaining prizes.[3] The lights went out one-by-one as the contestant tries to answer three trivia questions.[4] The show's catchphrase "Stop The Lights!" is still used by Irish people to indicate mock amazement.[4] References1. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.rte.ie/ten/features/2012/0117/434874-carrbunny/|title=Still Going Strong|publisher=RTÉ|date=2012-01-17|accessdate=2014-09-19}} {{RTÉ Entertainment}}{{Ireland-tv-stub}}2. ^{{cite web | url=http://www.rte.ie/archives/2015/1221/755442-quicksilver-charity-special/ | title=RTÉ Archive - Charity special | accessdate=12 February 2016}} 3. ^{{cite web | url=https://stillslibrary.rte.ie/indexplus/image/1008/073.html | title=RTÉ library | accessdate=12 February 2016}} 4. ^1 {{Cite web|url=http://www.irishtimes.com/news/stop-the-lights-1.242321|title=Stop the lights!|language=en-US|access-date=9 February 2018}} 7 : 1965 Irish television series debuts|1981 Irish television series endings|1960s Irish television series|1970s Irish television series|1980s Irish television series|Irish quiz shows|RTÉ television programmes |
