As of 2003 the district had a population of 52,403.[2] The district covers an area of 1,074 km². The district capital lies at Tân Lạc Town.[2] A 200-page book in an ancient Tai script was discovered in Mường Dan Village on February 2007.[3] SubdivisionsQuỳ Châu has one 1 town and 11 townships or communes (xã).
