It's mostly based on Jerry Springer. [1] ControversyThe show is controversial for Sawant's use of obscene language. The show has been slammed by the Information & Broadcasting Ministry of the Indian Government as well as the Allahabad High Court.[2] Sawant has been accused of abetting suicide of a participant of the show.[3] The family members of the participant maintained that the participant had slipped into depression and killed himself as Sawant had called him impotent on air.[1] As on 8 Dec 2010, the Allahabad High Court reserved its judgement regarding the guilt of Sawant in the abetment of suicide of the participant.[4] The court observed the choice of language of the anchor were very offensive and uncivil. The bench also stated that the anchor should not transgress the bounds of ethical value. Sawant's arrest was however stayed as there was no suicide note left by the deceased vindicating Sawant.[3] The Information & Broadcasting Ministry had ordered that the time slots for the show on NDTV Imagine and Bigg Boss aired on Colors be changed from prime time to 11 p.m. till 3 December 2010. The shows were also directed to run a disclaimer stating that their content were not suitable for children. News channels were also directed to not broadcast footage from these shows. The Bombay High Court had stayed this order.[5] References1. ^1 {{cite news|first=Special Correspondent|title=Bigg Boss, Rakhi ka Insaaf now in late-night slots |url=http://www.hindu.com/2010/11/18/stories/2010111858880100.htm|accessdate=17 December 2010|newspaper=The Hindu|date=18 Nov 2010}} {{Imagine Programmes}}{{tv-prog-stub}}2. ^{{cite web|first=PTI|title=HC flays language in reality show "Rakhi ka Insaaf"|url=http://www.sify.com/news/hc-flays-language-in-reality-show-rakhi-ka-insaaf-news-national-kl3tOdigfjh.html|accessdate=17 December 2010|publisher=sify.com|date=29 November 2010}} 3. ^1 {{cite news|first=PTI|title=Rakhi ka Insaaf draws flak from HC|url=http://www.hindustantimes.com/Rakhi-ka-Insaaf-draws-flak-from-HC/Article1-637198.aspx|accessdate=17 December 2010|newspaper=Hindustan Times|date=11 December 2010}} 4. ^{{cite news|first=PTI|title=High court reserves judgement on Rakhi Sawant's petition|url=http://www.dnaindia.com/india/report_high-court-reserves-judgment-on-rakhi-sawant-s-petition_1478668|accessdate=19 December 2010|newspaper=Daily News & Analysis|date=8 December 2010}} 5. ^{{cite news|first=TNN|title=Relief for Bigg Boss, can retain prime time slot till December 3|url=http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/entertainment/tv-/Relief-for-Bigg-Boss/articleshow/6970379.cms|accessdate=19 December 2010|newspaper=Times of India|date=22 November 2010}} 1 : Indian television series |
