Born to Basnayaka Ralalage Cyril Siyambalapitiya of Kegalle and Rajakumara Atapattu Mudiyanselage Kusumawathi of Wendala, Ruwanwella, he had his education at Ruwanwella Primary School and then at Royal College Colombo.
