The community is located on Highway 614, along the Frenchman River, {{convert|60|km|mi}} east of the Alberta-Saskatchewan border and about {{convert|185|km|mi}} southwest of the city of Swift Current. HistoryRavenscrag was once a community of over 100 people. Since the Great Depression the town's population has dropped to one family.[6] The settlement gave its name to the Ravencrag Formation, a stratigraphical unit of the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin, defined in 1918 by N.B. Davis at Ravenscrag Butte. The formation lies north-east of the community. See also
