From the outflow of Fish Pond ({{coord|46.9581|-68.8336 |format=dms |type:river_region:US-ME |name= Red River source}}) in Maine Township 15, Range 9, WELS, the river runs about {{convert|7|mi|-1}} southeast to Red River Falls in T.14 R.8 WELS, falling about {{convert|450|ft}}. It runs then about {{convert|6|mi}} northeast to St. Froid Lake in Winterville Plantation falling about {{convert|90|ft|-1}}. The lake is drained by the Fish River, a tributary of the Saint John River. See also
