He re-joined the House after a two-year absence in 2008 and was elected speaker by the incoming Republican majority following the 2010 election. Nutting married Wendy Libby in 1968. They have three children and five grandchildren. Nutting was born in Maine. His father was a roofer and plumber and his mother was a nurse. He has two older siblings, a sister and a brother, who are both retired teachers. He graduated from Skowhegan High School in 1965 and attained a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in 1970.[2] Nutting works in a Walmart pharmacy, though from 1972 to 2003 he owned and operated True's Pharmacy in Oakland. His pharmacy was forced to close following a billing dispute with the state Department of Human Services in which they were accused of over-billing MaineCare, the state's version of Medicaid, for up to $2.3 million.[3][4] Nutting has received several industry awards and honors and served on the boards of directors of area business groups as well as having formerly been President of the Maine Pharmacy Association.[2] References1. ^http://www.maine.gov/legis/lawlib/speak.htm {{Speakers of the Maine House of Representatives}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Nutting, Robert}}{{Maine-politician-stub}}2. ^1 {{cite web|title=Meet Speaker Robert Nutting|publisher=MaineSpeaker.org, Office of the Speaker of the House|url=http://www.mainespeaker.org/about/|accessdate=January 21, 2011|deadurl=yes|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20110727065952/http://www.mainespeaker.org/about/|archivedate=July 27, 2011|df=}} 3. ^{{cite news |title=Nutting overbilled state in pharmacy dispute |url=http://www.onlinesentinel.com/news/Nutting-had-million-dollar-pharmacy-dispute-with-state.html |newspaper=Morning Sentinel |date=November 12, 2010 |accessdate=January 22, 2011 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://archive.is/20130131005344/http://www.onlinesentinel.com/news/Nutting-had-million-dollar-pharmacy-dispute-with-state.html |archivedate=January 31, 2013 |df= }} 4. ^{{cite news |title=True's closes doors for good |author=Doug Harlow |url=http://www.asmainegoes.com/content/dhs-wins-everyone-else-loses |newspaper=Morning Sentinel |date=September 27, 2003 |accessdate=January 22, 2011}} 8 : 1947 births|Living people|Speakers of the Maine House of Representatives|Maine Republicans|American pharmacists|People from Oakland, Maine|21st-century American politicians|MCPHS University alumni |
