释义 |
Ruby Fox & Johnny Martin, is the stage names of Martin Faulkner and his partner, a professional English dance cabaret act in the tradition of Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire, who starred in many TV-shows, commercials, revue shows and events between 1987 and 1991, and being among the small number of pioneers of the vintage movement, have inspired professional dancers as well as re-enactment amateurs. Their classic Hollywood image was created by artist-designer Martin Faulkner who designed some of his partner's costumes. They were resident dancers at Palm Court Theatre Productions backed by nostalgic/swing bands including The Pasadena Roof Orchestra and the Piccadilly Dance Orchestra. Also being resident dancers with the swing Band 'Opus One', they were involved in the recreation of the first of the now-standard hangar dances at nostalgic swing/'Forties events. Ruby Fox retired from the stage in 1991 while Johnny Martin continued pursuing his career until the year 2002, teaming up with Dawn Purkiss, founder of the historical dance and drama company Baroque 'n' Roll for which he also designed and directed.
