He is from Rajshahi and besides national team he also plays for Rajshahi Division. He is an All-Rounder. Sabbir is a right-handed batsman and legbreak bowler.[1] Sabbir Rahman was also captain of the Bangladesh Under 19's team. EducationHe studied at American International University Of Bangladesh.[2] 2014-16He made his One Day International (ODI) debut for Bangladesh against Zimbabwe on 21 November 2014.[3] Sabbir was the top run scorer for Bangladesh in 2016 Asia Cup, where they beat UAE, Sri Lanka and Pakistan to go into the final with India. They lost to India in a group match and in the final. Sabbir was outstanding with the batting as he scored 174 runs with an average of 44.00 and strike rate of 123.94, and played a major part of Bangladeshi batting unit and was selected as 'Player of the series'.[4] He scored a fifty in the match against Sri Lanka, where it was the first time that Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka in a T20I.[5][6] Test cricketOn 20 October 2016, Sabbir made his Test debut against England.[7] BPLHe once held the record for the highest ever individual score in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) history (122), until it was bested by Chris Gayle in the 2017 edition of the BPL.[8] In October 2018, he was named in the squad for the Sylhet Sixers team, following the draft for the 2018–19 Bangladesh Premier League.[9] 2019In February 2019, he scored his maiden One Day International and all cricket century against New Zealand by scoring 102 on 23rd February.[10] ControversiesSabbir Rahman has been involved in numerous disciplinary issues. On 29 November 2016, Rahman, along with Al-Amin Hossain, were fined 30% and 50% of their BPL contracts respectively by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for "serious off-field disciplinary breaches".[11] On 1 January 2018, Rahman was stripped of his central contract, barred from playing international cricket for 6 months, and fined Tk 20 lakh (US$25,000) by the BCB for an incident that happened on 21 December 2017 during Rajshahi Division's first class match against Dhaka Metropolis. During the incident, Rahman went behind a sight screen and assaulted a young boy who had made a noise towards him during an innings break on the second day of the match. Rahman was questioned by the match referee on day three, at which point Rahman got "physically aggressive".[12][13] On 28 July, the BCB started investigations after Rahman allegedly threatened two fans on Facebook following a ODI loss to West Indies. The incident started when one of the fans made a sarcastic comment regarding Rahman's form on the account of "Shabbir Rahaman Roman", which is believed to be Rahman's personal Facebook account. Rahman then responded by allegedly sending messages containing foul language and threats of physical harm.[14] In September 2018, the BCB recommended a six-month suspension from international cricket.[15] References1. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.espncricinfo.com/bangladesh/content/player/373538.html |title=Sabbir Rahman |work=Cricinfo |accessdate=17 December 2010 }} 2. ^{{Cite news|url=https://searchenglish.com/sabbir-rahman-rising-star/|title=Sabbir Rahman: The Rising Star – Search English|date=2016-04-29|work=Search English |language=en-US |access-date=2017-04-04 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160508084012/https://searchenglish.com/sabbir-rahman-rising-star/ |archive-date=2016-05-08}} 3. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/760787.html |title=Zimbabwe tour of Bangladesh, 1st ODI: Bangladesh v Zimbabwe at Chittagong, Nov 21, 2014 |access-date=21 November 2014 |work=ESPN Cricinfo}} 4. ^{{cite web | url=http://www.cricketcountry.com/articles/asia-cup-t20-2016-sabbir-rahman-bangladeshs-new-hope-with-the-bat-410691 | title=Asia Cup T20 2016: Sabbir Rahman, Bangladesh's new hope with the bat | publisher=cricketcountry.com | accessdate=7 March 2016}} 5. ^{{cite news | url=http://www.espncricinfo.com/asia-cup-2015-16/content/story/977179.html | title=Sabbir's one-man act too much for Sri Lanka | date=28 February 2016 | first=Mohammad | last=Isam | publisher=ESPN Cricinfo | accessdate=28 July 2018}} 6. ^{{cite web | url=http://bdnews24.com/cricket/2016/02/28/sabbir-bowlers-earn-bangladesh-first-t20-win-against-sri-lanka | title=Sabbir, bowlers earn Bangladesh first T20 win against Sri Lanka | publisher=bdnews24.com | accessdate=7 March 2016}} 7. ^{{cite news | title = England tour of Bangladesh, 1st Test: Bangladesh v England at Chittagong, Oct 20 ,2016 | url = http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/1029825.html | accessdate = 20 October 2016 }} 8. ^{{Cite news|url=http://stats.espncricinfo.com/bangladesh-premier-league-2016-17/engine/records/batting/most_runs_innings.html?id=159;type=trophy|title=Cricket Records {{!}} Bangladesh Premier League {{!}} Records {{!}} High scores {{!}} ESPN Cricinfo|work=Cricinfo|access-date=2017-04-04}} 9. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.tigercricket.com.bd/2018/10/29/full-players-list-of-the-teams-following-players-draft-of-bpl-t20-2018-19/ |title=Full players list of the teams following Players Draft of BPL T20 2018-19 |work=Bangladesh Cricket Board |accessdate=29 October 2018}} 10. ^ {{cite web|url=http://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/26035327/welcome-back-sabbir-rahman-make-your-bat-talk-now|title=Welcome Sabbir Rahman, come with your bat now|work=ESPNcricinfo|accessdate=5 March 2019}} 11. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/18162909/sabbir-rahman-al-amin-hossain-fined-serious-field-disciplinary-breach|title=Sabbir, Al-Amin fined for "serious off-field disciplinary breach"|last=|first=|date=29 November 2016|website=ESPNCricinfo|archive-url=|archive-date=|dead-url=|access-date=28 July 2018}} 12. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/21900533/sabbir-rahman-being-investigated-allegedly-assaulting-fan|title=Sabbir Rahman being investigated for allegedly assaulting fan|last=Isam|first=Mohammad|date=28 December 2017|website=ESPNCricinfo|archive-url=|archive-date=|dead-url=|access-date=28 July 2018}} 13. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/21931127/sabbir-rahman-loses-bcb-central-contract-fined-suspended|title=Sabbir Rahman loses BCB central contract, fined and suspended|last=Isam|first=Mohammad|date=1 January 2018|website=ESPNCricinfo|archive-url=|archive-date=|dead-url=|access-date=28 July 2018}} 14. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/24215384/social-media-fracas-brings-sabbir-rahman-bcb-scanner|title=Social-media fracas brings Sabbir Rahman under BCB scanner|last=|first=|date=28 July 2018|website=ESPNCricinfo|archive-url=|archive-date=|dead-url=|access-date=28 July 2018}} 15. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/24542242/sabbir-rahman-faces-six-month-ban-international-cricket |title=Sabbir Rahman faces six-month ban from international cricket|last=Isam|first=Mohammad|work=ESPN Cricinfo |accessdate=1 September 2018}} External links
