As a local government, it was created on December, 4th 1996, by the then military of head of State, late Sani Abacha. The headquarter of the Council is Ago-Amodu. It needs be said that Saki East Local Government was formerly part of the defunct Ifedapo Local Government with the headquarter at Saki, until December 4th, 1996. This old Council was broken to ATISBO, Saki East and Saki West. The Local Government shares boundary with Saki, in Saki West, Tede in Atisbo and Igboho in Oorelope local governments. Apart from these principal towns, there are hundreds of districts and they include Ogunlere, Laipapa, Ajandaku, Sango, Wiliki, Yanrin funfun, Arugede and Kaaka all in Oje-Owode, Alagolo and Buda Banki at Ago-Amodu and Mangoro, Imodi, Woru, Aloba, Aba Nla, Kusiji, Onkosa in Sepeteri, Yikiyiki, Mafowuro sere, Odo-Ogun, Alaparun, Amititi, Amukoko, Alakia in Ogbooro and many others in Agbonle. Saki East is predominantly by the Yorubas, but they have a lot of non-nationals who come there to settle as farmers, including Fulani/Bororo, who find the pasture in the area beneficial to their animals. People there are predominantly farmers and their soil accommodate virtually all plants and crops. Farmers in the area are second to none when it comes to product of food and cash crops like cassava, yam, maize, wheat, while cashew and mango are produced in large quantity. All the principal towns have their markets which are five days intervals across the Local government, thus Ogbooro market, Ago-Amodu market, Oje-Owode market, if you have opportunity to see mountains of yam and valleys of other farm produce. At Sepeteri there are Araromi and Owode markets just as there are others in Ogbooro and Agbonle. All these markets form sources of revenue for the Local Government, the commercial institutions like Banks, Saw-mills, mills, petrol filling station and other levies on motorist, and development levies. Due to the wideness of the local government there are 156 primary schools (both public and private) and eleven (11) public secondary schools and about 6 private schools-scattered across the Local Government area. The Distance Learning Centre of University of Abuja at Ogbooro will soon take off. There are a number of health centers and maternity across the nook and crannies of the Local Government. In fact the branch of the UCH at Sepeteri is presently under rehabilitation which will mean total control and monitoring by the Federal Ministry of Health and state Hospital in Ogbooro People in the towns enjoy tap-water from the various dams while some remote areas enjoy potable water from either boreholes or deep wells construction by Local government. As true Yoruba communities, there are cultural heritage which are annually observed to unionize among people when those have travelled far and near will come home to rejoice together. Each of the principal towns has its own Community annual events besides the various traditional festivals which include: Sango, Egungun, Ogun, Yam and Yamoja festival among others. There are also several tourist attractions in the LGA which include Abuke Hill, Apo Dam, Ibuya Reserve, Yemoja Rivers and Odo Iyaosin. These centres can be taken care of and expanded to generate a lot of revenue for the government. A lot of wild animals are around the Local government as it plays hosts to Old Oyo National Park with several hundreds miles of Forest Reserves. The young boys and girls are trying their best to promote the image of their Local government through their efforts in sports and games. Many a times the Local government had won several trophies on either football competition as well as athletes. If efforts are intensified no doubt, the local government will produce footballers for the nation.{{Infobox settlement |official_name =Saki East |other_name = |native_name = |nickname = |settlement_type = LGA |motto = |image_skyline = |imagesize = |image_caption = |image_flag = |flag_size = |image_seal = |seal_size = |image_map = |mapsize = |map_caption = |pushpin_map = |pushpin_label_position = |pushpin_mapsize= |pushpin_map_caption = |subdivision_type = Country |subdivision_name ={{flag|Nigeria}} |subdivision_type1 = State |subdivision_name1 =Oyo State |subdivision_type2 = |subdivision_name2 = |subdivision_type3 = |subdivision_name3 = |government_footnotes = |government_type = |leader_title =Local Government Chairman and the Head of the Local Government Council |leader_name =Adebayo Wahab Adewale |established_title = |established_date = |area_magnitude = |unit_pref =Imperial |area_footnotes = |area_total_km2 = |area_land_km2 = |population_as_of =2006 |population_footnotes = |population_note = |population_total = |population_density_km2 = |timezone =WAT |utc_offset = +1 |timezone_DST = |utc_offset_DST = |coordinates = |elevation_footnotes = |elevation_m = |elevation_ft = |postal_code_type = |postal_code = |area_code = |blank_name = |blank_info = |website = |footnotes = }} References1. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.nipost.gov.ng/PostCode.aspx|title=Post Offices- with map of LGA|work=|publisher=NIPOST|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20121126042849/http://www.nipost.gov.ng/postcode.aspx|archivedate=2012-11-26|deadurl=yes|accessdate=2009-10-20|df=}} {{coord missing|Nigeria}}{{LGAs and communities of Oyo State}}{{OyoNG-geo-stub}} 1 : Local Government Areas in Oyo State |
