Construction began in November 2002 and the airport opened on March 12, 2007. The existing Saline County Airport {{airport codes|||M99}}, also known as Watts Field, was closed after the new airport opened.[6] Facilities and aircraftSaline County Regional Airport has one runway designated 2/20 with an asphalt surface measuring 5,001 by 100 feet (1,524 x 30 m).[1] For the 12-month period ending August 31, 2009, the airport had 45,500 aircraft operations, an average of 124 per day: 99% general aviation and 1% military. At that time there were 33 aircraft based at this airport: 88% single-engine, 9% multi-engine and 3% helicopter.[1] References1. ^1 2 3 4 {{FAA-airport|ID=SUZ|use=PU|own=PU|site=00886.39*A}}.
