CareerSamuel Snyder started his career in 1936 with the Signal Intelligence Service as one of the first 10 employees. During World War Two, he coordinated work on Japanese military attache codes. Later at NSA he worked on one of the early code breaking computers called ABNER[1] and other computing systems such as the IBM 7950 Harvest. He was the coordinator of the Library of Congress's information systems from 1964 to 1966 and helped to create the MARC standards, a machine readable cataloging system that is still in use. Mr. Snyder was inducted into the National Security Agency's NSA Hall of Honor in 2007,[2] holds a Defense Department Meritorious Civilian Service Award and The Washington Post's "Ideal Father of the Year" award for 1949.
