The town has a population of 21,148 and is the capital of Saponé Department and is located approximately 40 kilometres south of Ouagadougou.[2] In Saponé, over twenty years an informal young football club developed into a local farmers' association in the town. The association plays an important role in local activity, and aside from running a large farm, it invests in many developments in the town and runs the local secondary school and Saponé radio station.[3] GeographyThe nearest towns and villages include Kologonaba (0.8 nm), Ouidi (0.7 nm), Nabitenga (1.3 nm), Bonogo (1.4 nm), Tanlilli (1.4 nm), Goden (1.7 nm) and Sakpelse (1.0 nm).this is a little ville Sister city
EconomyThe economy is dominated by cotton production to attempt to fight off poverty. The Sina Moussa cotton farm of Saponé is set in seven-hectares and brings in 500,000 CFA a year although there is much uncertainty in production value. The peaking growing season is between October and November when the fields are white, known to the locals as "white gold" [4] when cotton buyers arrive from the capital in their trucks eager to exports the cotton to the market.[5] The town also has a plantation growing fruits.[6] References1. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.world-gazetteer.com/wg.php?x=&men=gcis&lng=en&des=wg&geo=-31&srt=npan&col=abcdefghinoq&msz=1500&pt=c&va=&srt=pnan|title=World Gazetteer|archiveurl=https://archive.is/20130111131816/http://www.world-gazetteer.com/wg.php?x=&men=gcis&lng=en&des=wg&geo=-31&srt=npan&col=abcdefghinoq&msz=1500&pt=c&va=&srt=pnan|archivedate=11 January 2013}} 2. ^Burkinabé government inforoute communale {{webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20150924034906/http://www.inforoute-communale.gov.bf/list_vill/centre_sud.htm |date=2015-09-24 }} 3. ^Röling, Niels G., Leeuwis, C., Pyburn, R., (2002), [https://books.google.com/books?id=q31bhUR9ZjgC&pg=PA110&dq=Sapone+Burkina+Faso&sig=FUYAK-_8VJpcFgE52wtucQI0mOs Agricultural extension work/ Social aspects], Uitgeverij Van Gorcum, Retrieved on June 15, 2008 4. ^Burkina's white gold fails to deliver wealth, BBC News, 25 July 2006, Retrieved on June 15, 2008 5. ^www.betterbytheyear.org, Retrieved on June 15, 2008 6. ^[https://books.google.com/books?id=mllZm3CChGIC&pg=PA316&dq=Sapon%C3%A9+burkina+faso&sig=VhvVtjq3lrIcnxzazGMquxTz2j8 National Research Council (U.S.)].
