It was built in 1904 by the Delaware and Hudson Railway.[1] In its heyday, the station served several daily trains going north to Malone, New York, on to Montreal, Quebec, and south to Utica, New York and Grand Central Terminal in New York City. Scheduled train service by the New York Central from nearby Lake Clear south to New York City ended in 1956.[3] The station is now served by the Adirondack Scenic Railroad Adirondack High Peaks Wilderness Line tourist train to Lake Placid Station.[4][5] The station houses historic exhibits, a visitors center and gift shops,[6] where they also sell tickets for the train. During its heyday, the station handled eighteen to twenty scheduled passenger trains per day.[4][7] See also
