The Schuylkill and Juniata Railroad Company was a railroad company formed on 1 June 1900 from the consolidation of five subsidiaries of the Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR). The predecessor component railroads were the Pennsylvania Schuylkill Valley; Nescopec; North and West Branch; Sunbury, Hazleton and Wilkesbarre; and the Sunbury and Lewistown. These lines all served the Coal Region of northeastern Pennsylvania. The company was absorbed into the PRR in 1902.[1] References1. ^{{cite book |last1= Burgess |first1= George H. |authorlink1= |last2= Kennedy |first2= Miles C. |title= The Pennsylvania Railroad Company 1845-1945|trans-title=|url= http://www.multimodalways.org/archives/rrs/PRR/PRR.html |accessdate= 27 June 2010 |type= |edition= |series= |volume= |date= |year= 1949 |month= |origyear= |publisher= The Pennsylvania Railroad Company |location= Philadelphia |isbn= |page= 509 |pages= |at= |chapter= Chapter L: Simplification of Corporate Structure |chapterurl= http://www.multimodalways.org/docs/railroads/companies/PRR/PRR%20Centenial%20History/PRR%20CH%20Part%20Six.pdf }} {{US-rail-transport-stub}} 4 : Predecessors of the Pennsylvania Railroad|Defunct Pennsylvania railroads|Railway companies established in 1900|Railway companies disestablished in 1902 |
