Scotch lake hosts many homes and cottages. It has provincial park trails, which are under Mactaquac Provincial Park's care. Local wildlife includes white tailed deer, black bears, wild hare, beaver. Its woods are home to a large variety of birds.

Scotch Lake has a population of around 300 attracting fishermen and hunters to wide swaths of thick forest.
