He made his debut in 1988 and was a premiership player in his first two seasons. He started on Gary Ablett in the 1989 VFL Grand Final, who kicked four goals in the first quarter and a half, before the bigger and stronger Chris Langford was moved onto Ablett. Despite Ablett's dominance, kicking nine goals and winning the Norm Smith Medal as the best player, Maginness still ended up on the winning side.[2] He is the son of former Hawthorn player, Norm Maginness.[1] He currently works as a chiropractor.[3] References1. ^1 {{Ref AFL Encyc|4th|397}} 2. ^{{cite news|url=https://news.google.com/newspapers?id=AssoAAAAIBAJ&sjid=Y5EDAAAAIBAJ&dq=scott%20maginness&pg=1823%2C972318|first=Rohan|last=Connolly|date=1 October 1989|work=The Age|title=A sporting contest that had the lot}} 3. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.brightonbeachandsomervillechiropractic.com.au/practitioners/|title=Practitioners}} External links
