Dr. Serhy Yekelchyk (born 13 November 1966 in Kiev) is a Ukrainian Canadian historian of Ukrainian and Russian history. Education and careerYekelchyk received his B.A. from the University of Kiev and his M.A. from the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences. He did research in Australia in the early 1990s, then moved to Edmonton to complete his Ph.D. at the University of Alberta in 2000.[1] He was a postdoctoral fellow and visiting assistant professor at the University of Michigan the following year. Since 2001, he has taught at the University of Victoria. Research interestsMuch of Yekelchyk's recent work focuses on Stalinist culture and political life, especially in the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. He has also written about Soviet nationalities policy and about Ukrainian national identity from the late nineteenth century to the present.[1] Selected bibliography
