It is located in the south of the republic. The area of the district is {{convert|400|km2|sp=us}}.{{citation needed|date=November 2009}} The administrative center of the administrative district is the rural locality (a selo) of Sharoy;[1] however, the selo of Khimoy serves as the administrative center of the municipal district.[2] Population: {{ru-census2010|3,094|;}} {{ru-census2002|2,236|.}} The population of Sharoy accounts for 9.1% of the district's total population.
